Rainforest Study

This week we begin our study of the Rainforests.

Students - please use the links below to play Amazon Adventure, and research the different layers of the rainforest.

Then, begin building your rainforest shadow box using a shoebox, colored clay, and construction paper. Don't forget to LABEL everything in your shadowbox, using Microsoft Word to type up each layer and organism.

Poetry Study - Let's Rhyme!

This week we begin a 4-week poetry study, beginning with couplets.

In couplet poems, two lines rhyme in each verse. Here is an example:

Lost Cooking Book

Miss Rogers loves to cook,
It is too bad she lost her cooking book.

She searched the house high and low,
Only to find socks, coins, and old play-dough.

When she finally gave up,
She reached up to grab a cup.

Pouring her juice, she wore a frown,
When suddenly, the cookbook came tumbling down!

Check out the couplets in the Jack Prelutsky books in our room. Then, write your own!
